Elizabeth Yip-Armitage 葉倩儀 is a contemporary dance artist based in Canada. Her dance practice is grounded in passion, dynamics, and emotion. As a choreographer, she pursues interdisciplinary work that is theatrical, virtuosic, and tender.
About
Elizabeth Yip-Armitage is a graduate of Modus Operandi, under the direction of Kate Franklin, Tiffany Tregarthen, and David Raymond. She is currently an ensemble member with Toronto Dance Theatre for the 2024/2025 season. Prior to this, she was an apprentice company member with RSA (Radical System Art), directed by Shay Keubler.
Elizabeth has performed and originated roles in works by Yin Yue Dance, Khoudia Touré, Shay Kuebler/RSA, FakeKnot, b. solomon, Nicolas Ventura, and Zahra Shahab. Past choreographic residencies include The Scotiabank Dance Centre, Boombox, and Vines Art Festival. Elizabeth has also been a commissioned filmmaker for Festival of Recorded Movement (F-O-R-M).
Her education in human geography and urban studies at Simon Fraser University contribute to her curiosity about spatial relationships and human connections, particularity through dance and music.
Elizabeth’s work has been presented at Vines Art Festival, The Dance Centre’s 12 Minute Max Showcase, Boombox, Pedestrian Protest (Vancouver Art Gallery), Festival of Recorded Movement (F-O-R-M), and MO Focus Group Showing 2022 + 2023.
